The process to renew expired Nepali driving license
If your driving license is expired that is issued from Nepal, you need to renew it within 90 days from the date of expiry.
If you are unable to renew your driving license within a year from date of expiry, you need to pay 100% of the amount as a fine. Similarly, you need to pay 200%, 300%, 400%, and 500% of the amount as a fine if you fail to renew your Nepali driving license within 2, 3, 4, and 5 years respectively.
The renewal will be valid for the next five years.
For the renewal of a driving license, the original license holder must be present in the transportation office and submit an application for driving license renewal. At the time, the ticket of NPR 5 must be attested.
Similarly, the person should also submit the certificate that proves him/her to be in sound health.
After filling application form, you need to register it in the transportation office with the needed payment amount. There, you will be updated with the date on which your license will be renewed.
If you don’t renew your license for five years after it expires, it will automatically be rejected and you need to get new driving license.
Driving License Renewal Fee in Nepal
The charges to renew an expired driving license in Nepal vary based on the type of vehicle. For heavy vehicles, the fee is NPR 3000. If you have a medium-sized vehicle, the renewal fee is NPR 2500. For light vehicles, the cost is NPR 2000. If you own a motorcycle or a scooter, the renewal fee is NPR 1500. It is important to note that these fees are subject to change, and it is advisable to check with the relevant authorities for the most up-to-date information on license renewal charges.
