What are the qualifications required to apply for a driving license in Nepal?

  1. Thulo sawaari ko nimti 21 barsa napugeko byakti.
  2. Majhaula tatha sanaa sawaari ko nimti 18 barsa napugeko.
  3. Motorbike tatha tyastai anya sano 2 paangre sawaari ko hakma 16 barsa umar napugeko.
  4. Chhare rog bhaeko, baulaeko, ekai chakka ringata lagne wa murchha hune rog bhaeko byakti.
  5. Aankha ko dekhne shakti kamjor bhaera chasma prayog garda pani samanya tawar le dekhna nasakne byakti.
  6. Sajha dhwani sanket awaj sunna nasakne gari bahiro bhaeko byakti.
  7. Rato, hariyo, pahenlo ityaadi rangharu turunta chhutyana nasakne (colour blind), drishtidosh bhaeko byakti.
  8. Ratandho bhaeko byakti.
  9. Haath khutta shaktihin bhai kaam dina nasakne bhaeko byakti. Tara, apangko nimti khas kisimle baneko sawaari ko nimti yo khandko bandej lagu hune chaina.
  10. Thulo ra majhaula sarbajanik sawaari ko lagi 60 barsa umar purna bhaeko kunai pani byakti.
  11. Sano sawaari chalaeko 2 barsa purna nabhaesamma majhaula ra thulo sawaari chalauna chalak anumati patra diyine chaina.
  12. Nepali bhaashama sajha lekhapadh garna najanne.

What are the qualifications required to apply for a driving license in Nepal?


According to the Motor Vehicle and Transport Management Act, 2049, the applicant for a driving license must not have the following disqualifications:

  1. A person under the age of 21 for heavy vehicles.
  2. A person under the age of 18 for medium and light vehicles.
  3. A person under the age of 16 for motorcycles and other similar two-wheelers.
  4. A person suffering from epilepsy, mental disorders, sudden dizziness, or fainting conditions.
  5. A person with weak eyesight who cannot see properly even with the use of glasses.
  6. A person who is completely deaf and cannot hear basic sound signals.
  7. A person with color blindness who cannot distinguish colors like red, green, or yellow immediately.
  8. A person suffering from night blindness.
  9. A person with weak or disabled limbs unable to operate a vehicle. However, this restriction does not apply to vehicles specially designed for disabled individuals.
  10. A person above 60 years of age for driving heavy or medium public vehicles.
  11. A person without two years of experience driving light vehicles is not allowed to apply for medium or heavy vehicle licenses.
  12. A person who cannot perform basic reading and writing in the Nepali language.
